The Life of the Bear Part 21

The Polar Bear Emperor was assassinated today. It was done by one of his security bears who thought that the Emperor's decision would get us all killed. Apparently, the Emperor was secretly making weapons for his army. A security bear stole a gun from the Emperor's secret weapons factory, and used it to kill the Emperor.
I was so surprised that this happened, and I thought that it was an awful way to stop the Emperor, but I also thought that it might have been the only way. A new Emperor will be chosen in an month or two and the Emperor's factory will be torn down in a few weeks. Their will not be an attack on the humans, But otherwise, nothing has changed. Us polar bears are still going to try to stop global warming, and we hope that humans will help us in our time of need.

The Life of the Bear Part 20

A week past and people were still protesting that the Polar Bear Emperor should not take action against humans. But all I could think about was what would happen if we did take action. we would stand no chance against the humans, we do not have an weapons, and we have no army. I wondered what the Emperor was thinking.
Because of this whole debacle, the meetings at the Science Center were canceled, so I got to stay home with Marjorine. I could not really enjoy my days off because I was thinking about the Emperor's decision. How would he achieve this? Well my questions was soon answered.
I was listening to the radio today, when a special broadcast was made. It said that polar bears are getting recruited to be in a new bear army. Any polar bears that want to fight for their live should enlist for the army.
"Who in their right mind would ever want to join an army to fight the most powerful species on the planet?" said Marjorine after she heard the report. "I do not know honey."

The Life of the Polar Bear Part 19

We walked off to the Polar Bear Emperor's house to protest with the other polar bears. But, by the time we got there, security bears were outside pushing all the polar bears away.
"You can not push us out of here, this is freedom of speech!" yelled a polar bear that was in the crowd. "I do not care about your rights, I got orders from the Polar Bear Emperor himself. He does not want polar bear going against their own people." said the security bear. "We do not want him to speak for us. we want our own voices heard." yelled another polar bear. "The Polar Bear Emperor is doing this to help you. You should all be thanking him instead of protesting."
After about an hour of yelling back and forth, The crowd dispersed. Me and my wife, Marjorine, left after everyone else did. We walked home feeling like we had failed at our mission to protest.
"Why could we not stay longer?" asked Marjorine. "Because, the security bears would not let us stay." I said. "who the hell cares about what security bears think." she said. "Its not just what the security bears think, its what the Polar Bears Emperor thinks."

The Life of the Bears Part 18

After I read the letter, I quickly ran home to tell my wife about this news. My house felt about five times as far as it actually is, because I was so worried about what might happen if this letter was true. I finally got home only to find my wife sitting out by the porch waiting for me.
"Marjorine, there was a letter from the Polar Bear Emperor that," but she cut me off before I could finish. "I already know Robert. They told us on the radio," with a worried tone in her voice. I did not even have to ask her how she felt about this issue, I could see how she felt by looking into her eyes. She was worried and I did not blame her, I was worried to.
"Well, what should we do?" she said. "What can we do, just two polar bears can not change the decision of the Emperor." I said. "Yeah, but a lot can. People are already starting to protest that the Emperor should not take action." she said.
She had a point, if enough polar bears protested against the Emperor, he might change his decision. But, why would the Emperor want to take action. Our race has been peaceful for hundreds of years, its had to believe that we might take action.
About three days after the letter came out, most of the polar bears were outside the Polar Bear Emperor's house protesting. Some held up signs that said, "We are not a violent race!" and "We will not be blamed for this." All the polar bears were also screaming, "We do not support your decision!" Even though none of us knew what the Polar Bear Emperor's decision is, we know that it will not be a peaceful one.
I was not protesting. I was watching the protesters on the TV. Marjorine was in the other room making signs so we could protest. We planned to go out and protest after Marjorine was done making the signs. She walked into the room and said, "How about you help me make some of these signs?" "I can no, I am watching what is happening with the protesting." I said. "I just wanted a little help." she said. "Will you stop nagging!" I said. "Why are you being such a jerk?!?" she said. "I am sorry, I am just a little bit frazzled about this issue, I am sorry."
